Who can go on a whitewater rafting trip?
Everyone! From mild floats to extreme whitewater, 8Adventures offers trips for all skill levels.
Is there a minimum age limit?
Class II–III: Minimum age 7 years
Class III–IV: Minimum age 15 years
All guests under 18 must be accompanied or have a signed waiver.
Do I need to know how to swim?
No, but you should be comfortable in the water. All participants wear Coast Guard Certified UA-rated life jackets. Guides are trained in swiftwater rescue.
Do I need to be in shape?
A moderate level of fitness is required. You should be able to climb two flights of stairs without resting.
Which rafting tour is best for me?
The 10km Rafting Tour is our main route — you’ll take on all the rapids for a fast, exciting adventure.
The 8km Rafting Tour skips the biggest rapids but still includes thrilling whitewater and calm scenic sections.
Both tours offer a balance of excitement and relaxation on the Mae Taeng River.
What’s the best time of year to go rafting?
July–February offers the best flow. March–June has lower water and uses inflatable kayaks.
How do we get there?
Free air-conditioned transport is provided from Chiang Mai city. You can also drive — directions are at 8adventures.com/maps-and-directions.
How many people fit in a boat?
Up to 6 people. In dry season, 2 person inflatable kayaks are used (one guest, one guide)
Are your guides certified?
Yes. All guides are certified in First Aid, CPR, and International Whitewater Safety
Can I bring a camera?
Yes, but it may get wet. Use a waterproof or water-resistant camera with a secure strap.
What happens if I fall out of the raft?
You'll float with your life jacket. Your guide will assist you back into the raft. Safety briefings cover this scenario.

 Rafting 10 km: Must be aged 15 years and older and be able to swim. Max Weight 120 KG. If over please advise.

 

Rafting 8km: Must be age 7 years and older (Water level dependant: high water varies the most in July, August and September)

 

CE Helmets and Coast Guard Approved Life Jackets are provided for all Rafting Trips.

All Participants should be in reasonable physical condition. If you have a heart, back or neck condition, broken bones or are pregnant our activities are not for you
